Hard drives.

Today has been uneventful in the office... I was supposed to be editing wedding images from the lovely Chelsea Heggerston's wedding, but instead I've been stuck here trying to clear off hard drive space in order to edit. I've been working since on this since 11 am and here I still sit... waiting for images to copy, delete, and move over to DVD's. I would say it's time to install a new hard drive in my computer.

As images are copying over, I've decided to catch you up on the other images I've finished from the NCAA Championships. Click below to view the images uploaded to my facebook fan page.

Busy, Busy, Busy!

This last month or two I will admit that I have been slacking on the blogging end of things. I have it in my daily routine to update my facebook with images, specials, events, and anything else going on, but have a more difficult time updating the blog. I will try to be better about this. I'd like to give more behind the scenes/camera on here than I can on facebook. I enjoy the social networking and am still blown away at how fast news can travel as well as keeping us all connected in one single place. It's such a great tool and can not stress enough how helpful it's been in getting me work!

Like I said above, I've been BUSY lately! I can't begin to express how lucky I am. It's not that I have a shoot everyday, but it's been about every other weekend at least and I'm constantly traveling! I feel as if I've been away more than I've been home the last two months. It's been a great learning experience and a great way to make many more connections. I've also been blessed with a few breath taking opportunities! I had the pleasure of photographing the NCAA Gymnastics Championships held on April 14-16 in Columbus, Ohio, I created a one of a kind custom panorama poster for the Oklahoma Sooners end of the year gifts, and I've been asked to photograph my good friends wedding at the end of the month!

Since there is far too many images to catch up on, I'd like to leave the links to each photo album on facebook and then give you a little information on each. I think that will be easier and in the future I will try to include both.

To start it off we have Ballet Nouveau Colorado. They're a modern dance company and a school. I was asked to come photograph one of their outreach programs at a local school and was amazed at the professional dancers as they performed during this assembly. They sort of 'danced through the ages' and put on a very enjoyable and informational performance. I was then lucky enough to go and photograph during their student company and classes. It was another great experience!
BNC Assembly - February 20, 2011 in Broomfield, CO

About a month of not much work, I booked the state gymnastics meet in Nevada. It was held at my parent's gymnastics center (Gymnastics Nevada) in Sparks, NV. It was a great day filled with a lot of gymnastics. This was my first big photo gig that I ran all by myself since graduation and I was really pleased with it's outcome! Looking forward to doing more of these!
Men's NV State Championships - March 12, 2011 in Sparks, NV

I was literally home one night after getting back from Nevada when I had to pack up and head out again. This time to Oklahoma... I was there to get shots of every since Sooner to create end of the year gifts that the parents purchase for each guy on the team. It was a great venue, great meet, and got some really amazing photographs! I can't even begin to explain the rush from being out on the floor and in such a high energy environment! Makes me love my job so much more being surround by this community!
Oklahoma vs Penn & Ill - March 19, 2011 in Norman, Ok

I was hired by the University of Oklahoma this time to photograph the MPSF Championships. The Sooners were headed into this meet undefeated. It was a close meet and the boys walked away with second place which ignited flame for NCAA. This was my first paid gig for a university. I went in nervous and came out with such a rush. Gymnastics is such an underrated sport.
MPSF - April 2, 2011 in Colorado Springs, CO

All of this lead up to the NCAA Championships. I was hired again by the Sooners to capture their success at the championships. I worked all 3 nights and felt as if I too competed. I was completely pooped after the long, but very exciting weekend. I've only been able to edit night one of competition so far, but am currently working on night two. I've been so blessed this season and am looking forward to the start of the new season... it'll be a long summer without gymnastics. I will post a blog when night two and three are finished. Until then, enjoy the first round of images!
NCAA - Night one - April 14-16, 2011 in Columbus, Ohio

Since the season has ended, I'm now currently looking to add to my portfolio! If you have a wedding, maternity, baby, or young child, I'd love to photograph you! There will be a nice discount for your time and effort! I'm also looking to book 2012 High School Seniors or any other spring portraits you have in mind! I've also just added a pre-prom special and sessions! Contact me for any of the above! Looking forward to the beautiful weather and images the Spring and Summer bring!

I can't wait to wear flipflop's and sundresses... come on Spring! With that in mind, I've uploaded the March newsletter below (it's also available at www.jessidalton.com under studio news). It's filled with past events, upcoming events, specials, and other studio news! Click Here.

And as always, check out my fan page on Facebook to stay up to date on schedule changes, new events (or to RSVP to events), and other studio news throughout the month!

I've recently went to Las Vegas, NV to work with USA Gymnastics Magazine. I was to help photograph the Winter Cup Challenge held each year in Vegas. It is comprised of some of the most talented male gymnasts in the country. They all compete with hopes of placing in the top 15 to gain a spot of the Senior National Team which competes around the world to represent the USA! How crazy is that! Below are some images from the second session...

I traveled to Reno, NV to be a vendor at the 2011 Gymnastics Nevada Challenge. The big event was held on January 29-30th. It was a great weekend full of great gymnastics and I had the honor of photographing for some great clients. Below are two of my newest products being offered... Photo Montages! Below the montages are two slide shows of the Gym Nevada Gymnasts. The slide shows are also available for purchase. Keep in mind each of these products can be created custom for you!

Rocky Mountain Open 2011

This past weekend I attended the 2011 Rocky Mountain Open held at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO. The Rocky Mountain Open is a gymnastics meet held at the beginning of the year (January 15). For many, it's the start of the new season and for me, it's the start of my brothers second year at the University of Oklahoma (Team OU/Boomer Sooner).

It began at 6pm on a chilly Saturday night, however the gym in which they competed was NOT so chilly... it was actually quite warm! I feel like I was the one doing all the working out! It was a great competition and this year the Olympic Training Center (OTC) was allowed to compete against the NCAA teams and have their scores counted. Most years, they're not allowed to be counted towards team scores, but this year it was on.

It was a battle between OU and the OTC for a majority of the night, but the OTC ended up winning first place team, but my brother was able to capture the first place all around followed by a few members at the OTC. It was a great way to start the new season, but it also showed us that there's a lot to do from here and how they will work to continue getting better through out the season. I saw a lot of new tricks and am excited to see how they will in time, become perfected in this years routines!

Here are a few of the shots from this past weekend... I only photographed two guys this time around, but I'll be attending many more meets, so stay tuned to learn more about team OU!

This is my brother Jake.

This is Troy, his roommate and teammate at OU.

And this is a new product I'm finally ready to offer... PHOTO MONTAGES! Prices for a custom montage start at just $99!
Another photo montage is in the works! I'll be sure to publish it when it's completed :) I thank you all for your support and I look forward to this year! It's already off to a great start!
